At times, our inspiration and passion can fade away as we feel the pull to halt, seek respite, and succumb to the familiar path we've always tread. As a metaphorical wall stands before us, we are faced with a crucial decision: either gather the strength to ascend and perservere, or surrender and allow our ideas, inspiration, projects, or plans to fade into obscurity.

Three Truths to Remind Yourself to Build Ourselves Up and Climb the Wall:

1. No one is a bigger critic than you

Give yourself credit instead of criticism.

The loudest voice in any pursuit of new is your own.  Comparison is the theif of joy. Nothing around you is pulling you down except yourself. That inner voice might not be audible, but physical.  An energy drop, a blank mind, a distracted space into trivial things.  There is no “time lost”, only time poorly invested.  Forgive Yourself. Clean off the muk, make a plan, and move forward.

2. Plans Change, Embrace Them

Original visions of ideas and projects light the fire for action.  Change of plans, resources, support, or ideas can derail thinking and passion for the project.  Instead of falling down with no hope, jump into the changes and see how they can support and enhance the original plans. That is the beauty of iterative thinking. The final product you complete will have so much more than what you started with!

3. In Order to See

Problems will arise.  Each day new challenges create more opportunities to give up, or lose sight of our goals.  When those unforeseen problems occur, think about 3 in Order to See.  Come up with 3 solutions to the problem to refocus on the goal.  For example, a plan is in place for a speaker to come present to your team.  The weather isn’t looking good and snow will shut down the city during the time when they are to arrive.  They are not available to come again for another year.  What are 3 ideas you might come up with to be able to get to the ultimate goal, of training for your team?

Fantastic innovations are not born from in-the-moment ideas, but built over hard work and deep thought investment.  Remember that each step forward, no matter how big, is moving in the right direction.
